About Us
The Downing's Hardware stores are family owned and operated by John Downing and his sister, Kathy Mclemore, for nearly 20 years. John is a Springfield native, living in the area for 62 years. He's also been in the hardware business serving the Springfield community for 43 years. Downing's Hardware is proud to be involved in Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, 4-H Advisory, and 18+ years of high school coaching. Downing's has continued to support the needs of the community providing the lawn and garden supplies, paint, hardware and fasteners, and plumbing supplies you need!
Lawn & Garden
We have a strong focus on providing the best lawn and garden products and services. John Downing graduated from Scott's School and can help you select the right Scott's lawn food, grass feed, weed control, and soil for your lawn and garden. We have the biggest selection of grass seed in Springfield and stock it in bulk. We also sell spreaders, Scott's Turf Builder, and Round-Up. Don't forget to pick up your lawn and garden tools at Downing's. We have rakes, shovels, clippers, hedger sheers, garden gloves, fruit pickers, and pole tree pruners. We offer hoses, sprinklers, hose nozzles, and wands- everything you need to keep your garden and grass beautiful throughout the summer and fall. Paint & Paint Supplies
Our paint department is sure to impress you with our large selection of paint colors from Pratt & Lambert and Do it Best paints at our Springfield location and Valspar and Do it Best paints at our Mechanicsburg location! Our staff can assist you in selecting the perfect color and paint that will best fit your next project. We have Krylon spray paints, Minwax wood stains, and Rust-Oleum chalk paint. Don't forget to paint brushes, rollers, painter's tape, and trays while you're here!
